25th Anniversary Season Set to Begin at the Springport Motor Speedway
By: Chris Fobbe – Springport Motor Speedway

Springport, Michigan (4/30) – In April of 1989, ground was broken on what was once a 70 acre farm behind the home of future Michigan Motorsports Hall of Famer Russ Densmore and his wife Pat. Spending their retirement money to finance a dream, Russ and Pat constructed what would become one of the most picturesque Speedways in all of America. Through the efforts of friends, family, racers and even the local Amish community, an immaculate shrine of Speed was constructed.

25 years later, the 3/8s (.375) mile, high banked oval is preparing to go full bore into the 2014 season taking no prisoners, with the one and only Sunday evening event of the campaign. The travelling stars of the JEGS / CRA All-Stars Tour kick off their season with the running of the Cabin Fever 100 presented by JEGS.com. Nearly 30 cars have already preregistered for the event, with more expected to show up on race day. Highlighting the entry list are such notables as 2012 Kitsmiller RV Super Late Models Track Champion Dominique Van Wieringen, Eaton Rapids, Michigan resident David McManus and 2013 AP Motors A-Division competitor Amber Slagle stepping up to the travelling wars.

Also on the card will be the first of four appearances for the ICAR Top Speed Modifieds. The travelling stars of the open wheeled class will come to town to clash with Springport Motor Speedway’s own Drive Train Specialists Modifieds in a 50-lap feature event. The top open wheeled warriors of the Midwest and Canada will converge on Springport for the event and a large field of cars is expected.

Also on the card will be opening night for Springport Motor Speedway’s own ABC Stock Car series presented by AP Motors and Duck’s Point C-Store and the Four Cylinder Sport Stock division, highlighting the local stars of the Speedway.

Racing begins at 4pm, gates open at 2pm. Adults are just $15, seniors are $13 and anyone 21 and under is absolutely free. Beginning May 10, the Speedway resumes regular Saturday night racing through the end of August featuring the ABC Stock Cars presented by the Duck’s Point C-Store and AP Motors, the Sport Stocks and an alternating schedule for our Kitsmiller RV Super Late Models and Drive Train Specialists Modifieds.
