Racin' & Rockin' was so well received, that it has been a regular feature at Springport Motor Speedway ever since and is back again for 2010. The July 17th event will be even more special as Springport Motor Speedway is teaming up with the Pink Ribbon Riders to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and for those in need. From the pinkribbonriders.com website, "The Pink Ribbon Riders mission is to promote awareness of breast cancer in the motor sports industry for both men and women while raising funds for those in need".
Tickets for the Racin' & Rockin' show will be available from Pink Ribbon Riders members as well as online on pinkribbonriders.com. 50 percent of each ticket sold through the Pink Ribbon Riders organization will go towards their fundraiser. If they are able to sell 2,000 tickets, they will raise $12,000 just from this one single event.
Be sure to visit the pinkribbonriders.com website for more info about the Pink Ribbon Riders and other events they are holding throughout the midwest. In the winter time, it's all about snowmobiles and in the summer time, they hit the road on their motorcycles.
Come on out on July 17th and enjoy a night of racing followed by an enjoyable get together in the pit area and music by the Basement Dawgs. And watch the spectacle earlier in the day as motorcycle after motorcycle arrives in pink trim.

This series was already shaping up to be one of the hottest weekly short track racing divisions in Michigan and with its new identity and association with Venom Energy, it will step up to the next level as more and more excitement is added. If the 2007 Michigan Cup was any indication, the feature races every Saturday night at Springport in 2010 will produce some of the most competitive and action packed racing of the season, anywhere.
The Venom Stock Car Series targets the most common race cars in the state. The format and rules it uses allows almost any Sportsman, Street Stock, and Pure Stock, as well as other similar V8 powered rear wheel drive race cars to come and race. Similar to bracket racing at the drag strips, the drivers and their cars are placed in classes and features based on their qualifying times. The fastest will be in the A-Main, the slowest in the C-Main, and everything in between will race in the B-Main. However, with more cars than can be run in 3 features, there could also be a D-Main and even more. The more cars there are, the closer the competition will be in each feature. At the end of the season, there will be an A-Main Champion, a B-Main Champion, and a C-Main Champion.
In addition to sponsoring the Venom Stock Car Series, the Dr. Pepper/7Up Bottling Company will be the official soft drink provider of Springport Motor Speedway. Dr. Pepper has been producing its unique soft drink for over 125 years, since 1885. The company has become one of the largest soft drink providers in North America and markets over 50 brands of beverages. Some of these that you will find at the concession stand at the speedway include Dr. Pepper and 7Up, of course, along with RC Cola, Diet Rite, A&W Root Beer, Vernors, Squirt, Country Time Lemonade, Arizona Iced Tea, Deja Blue water, All Sport Body Quencher, HYDRIVE Energy, and of course, Venom Energy.
Venom Energy can be found at your local Meijer store as well as many other grocery stores, party stores, and convenience stores, and of course at the concession stand at Springport Motor Speedway. To learn more please visit, venomenergy.com.
To learn more about the cars racing in the Venom Stock Car Series, you can read Section 12 of the 2010 Rulebook. One week prior to opening night, on April 10th, many drivers racing in the Venom Stock Car Series will be making their way to the speedway for pre-registration and practice. Check the 2010 Schedule for more information.
The Midwest Classic Racers (MCR) is entering its 17th year of racing Dwarf cars at tracks all around Michigan. The organization has its roots at Springport Motor Speedway and actually got started in 1993, the year before MCR was formed. The track was then known as Michigan Ideal Speedway and two Dwarf cars competed in a race held there in 1993. One was driven by Craig Meyers and the other by Steve Martin.
Shortly afterwards, Jack VanDyke from Jaxports in Lansing, Michigan began to get involved. Jaxports built cars and sold parts and became a major sponsor of MCR. From there, the series blossomed and grew to where it is today and for the 2010 season, the MCR Dwarf Series will be competing at 10 different race tracks in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois.
The MCR Dwarfs have always been big supporters of the Michigan Ideal Speedway (Springport), and through the help of Jaxports, the tech building was constructed at the speedway. The second stall in the building actually has four holes cut in the floor for scales that perfectly match the wheelbase of the Dwarf cars along with a pit in the center so the tech inspector can examine the underside of each race car.
How fitting is it that one of the drivers of those first two cars from back in 1993, Steve Martin, has leased the speedway for the 2010 season and in the near future, will exercise his option to purchase the facility?
Be sure to check the complete 2010 MCR Dwarfs schedule and catch the action as they travel not only to the site of their first event, but to many other tracks in the Michigan area.
