Also featured on this night will be the Bishop Performance Legends as they begin winding down their season. And as a last-minute spur of the moment addition to the event, we will have the Modifieds making their way to the 3/8ths mile speedway. This will be only the second time the Modifieds have raced at Springport this season. They were the feature show at the July 18th Racin' & Rockin' event.
Racing begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, Kids 6-12 are $5, and under 6 is free.
See you on the 28th.
The series will then be off for one week as the Michigan 200 is held at Springport featuring the Sunoco National Tour, on September 4, in a big 200 lap Late Model Series event featuring their all-new 2010 Mustang and Camaro body styles. This will be the only stop in Michigan for this series in 2010.
The Venom Stock Car Series will be back for the weekend of September 10-12 as the headliner for the 11th running of the Michigan Cup. From a write-up after the 1991 season had ended:
"At the end of the season, Jim Barnhart suggested to Russ that he would like to put on a weekend show and open it up to all race drivers and call it the Michigan Cup. Densmore agreed to provide the track and Jim assembled an officiating crew. That was a great weekend in the middle of September, there were 53 Late Models that raced a 75 lap feature, 38 IMCA Modified cars that raced a 50 lap feature and 67 Pro Stock cars that raced. That was the beginning of the Michigan Cup seasonal final show."
The Michigan Cup is sure to be an exciting event as the 10th event which was held in 2007 had 131 cars show up from other tracks around the state.
From 4 PM until dark, you never know who might show up and what they might bring. On August 12th, we had a visit from Gary Fedewa along with a number of his friends. Gary brought out his restored titanium Super Mod and let several people drive it.
