Barnhart, Billingsley and Taylor Tame Springport

Springport, Michigan (7/5) – A field of fast cars lined up for the 25-lap AP Motors A-Division feature event on a picturesque summer evening at the Springport Motor Speedway. It would be multi-time B-Division feature winner Bryan Noble leading the field down for the start, and after trading the lead a few times in the opening laps, it would be Craig Stephens out in front. Stephens and his crew had worked through the night to get the car together after a wreck the night before up at the Spartan Speedway. Stephens would hold the point for five laps, but it would be another driver who had to scramble to recover from a wreck that occurred the night before who would have the final say in the event. Joe Barnhart was able to slip by on lap nine and would drive away to pick up his sixth feature event of the season. Jeremy Lutz was second with Stephens, Jack Cook and JD Hancock completing the top five.
The Ducks Point C-Store B-Division ran 20-laps for their feature event, and it was non-stop excitement. Tony Noble started things off on the point, but a daring dive to the bottom of the track saw Rich Kinch leading lap number one. Kinch would lead a trio of laps before being overtaken by Steve Billingsley. Billingsley tried to skate away, but Mark Langs Jr. would battle with him for the win. On lap 17 Langs took the position, but by that point heavy smoke was pouring out of the Climax, Michigan drivers car, which forced chief starter Tim Beebe to throw the black flag, which allowed Steve Billingsley to claim the win. Kinch was second with Dale Eglon, Tony Noble and Tim Sharp Jr. completing the top five.
Joe Barnhart was fastest qualifier for the ABC Stock Cars, turning a 16.330 second lap around the 3/8s (.375) mile oval. Rich Kinch, Jack Cook and Jeremy Lutz claimed the heat race wins.
The FUG Printing Sport Stocks lined up for their 15-lap feature, and put on a great show. Bill McBride started things off up front, but it would be Ryan Gordon quickly skating by to take command of the position. But it would be Dutch Taylor cutting through the field to lead lap two. Dutch would quickly be under threat from his grandson, Defending Track Champion Aaron. While Dutch held strong, with the white flag in sight, Aaron was able to muscle his way to the front and take his fourth win of the season. Dutch Taylor was second with Dustin Burdick, Gordon and Trina Wurmnest completing the top five. Heat race wins went to Wurmnest and Aaron Taylor. Aaron was also quickest qualifier with a 18.899. Aarons Mom Sheila Taylor also took the win the special powder puff race.
