Springport, Michigan (9/21) – A strong field of Drive Train Specialists Modifieds would line up for their 30-lap main event to close out their season. Gord Alblas would start things off up front, and looked to be dominant in the early running, extending a decent sized lead. A caution would allow Hoosier Logan Parker to line up next to Alblas. The two drivers would engage in a strong battle around the 3/8s (.375) mile oval, until lap 21 when the two drivers made contact coming off of turn four. This would hand the lead over to six time overall and now 2013 Track Champion Earl Miles. Miles would hang on up front and take the win, his first ever Michigan Cup win. Bubber Patrick was second with Jon McNett, Terry Trost and Sonny Coito completing the top five. Steve Wosniak, Mike Stenberg and McNett were heat race winners, while Nyle Weiler was the Send Out Cards fast qualifier with a 15.905.
The next race to hit the Speedway was the C-Division feature, another thrilling feature event, with Speedway debutant Tami Hawkins starting things off up front. Larry Surber looked to be strong in the early running, as he snatched the lead away on lap one. He would lead a third of the race, but it would be Randy Riever, the opening night feature winner would bookend his season, claiming the popular feature win. Surber was second with Hawkins, Sabrina Booth and Brian Barden completing the top five.
The AP Motors B-Division feature was the next to hit the Speedway for 20 wild laps. Jeff Griffin, making his first start of the season, would start things off up front, but the leader on the return trip around was Todd DeWaters. Multi-time Track Champion Ron Heeney was the next driver to make a challenge for the lead, as he grabbed the spot on lap four, he would stay up front for a handful of laps, but it would be a strong Tanner Tallarico powering past on lap nine. Tallarico would quickly begin to battle with Chuck Ewing, making just his second start of the season. Ewing and Tallarico would battle back and forth, but in the end, it was Ewing taking the win. Tallarico was second with Heeney, Brandon Biddinger and DeWaters completing the top five.
The Duck’s Point C-Store A-Division feature would be next up, with Flat Rock Speedway veteran Scott Selmi starting things off on the pole. Selmi would lead a pair of laps, before being overtaken by Matt Kirchen. Kirchen would hold the point for five laps, before Justin Dinzik was able to get by. Dinzik would be on a rail, leading the rest of the laps, as he took his inaugural Michigan Cup victory. 2013 Track Champion Joe Barnhart was second with Don Bergau, Ken Taylor and Andrew Ritter completing the top five.
ABC Heat races were claimed by Riever, Tallarico, Ewing and Damon Place, while Dinzik was the fastest qualifier with a speedy 16.248.
The final feature of the season would be the Sport Stocks feature. Trina Wurmnest was the driver up front as the field took the green, with Brian Becker snatching up the lead on lap three. Becker and 2013 Track Champion Aaron Taylor would begin to race each other around the semi-banked oval. The two drivers would put on a show, but it would be Taylor getting around, and he would go on to take the win, his sixth consecutive. William Hartman was second with Beckner, Dutch Taylor and Nick Jenema completing the top five. Troy Andrews and A. Taylor would take heat race wins, with Taylor completing the hat trick with the Send Out Cards fast qualifier award, with a 18.847.
